Welcome to my web page. Years ago I was lucky enough to have a professor named Dick Fleming
who taught me photography. His enthusiasm for the craft and first-hand knowledge of it opened
my eyes to a career I wanted to follow. For more than 30 years, I have been an eyewitness to
Sunrises
and Sunsets  around the world and witnessed what most can only see on the Front Pages and magazines
through my lens.

As a news photographer, I have covered every United States President since
Richard Nixon,  including
Presidents Ford, Carter, Reagan,
Bush 41,  Clinton,  and Bush 43  My journey has allowed me to cover
summits, presidential inaugurations, shuttle launches, Super Bowls, the
Summer & Winter Olympics,  Cal
Ripken's record breaking game, NBA playoffs, political races, Marches on Washington and all of the
Republican and Democratic
National Conventions since 1980. I have traveled to over forty countries
around the world, covering national events as well as the turmoil in the
Middle East,
and the Sadness of War. My coverage of the 1981 attack on President Reagan's life earned me the
Pulitzer Prize for spot news photography.

This fantastic voyage has allowed me not only to drink lemonade with
King Hussein and Queen Nor of
Jordan, but also allowed me to share stories and a cool drink with an old Filipino fisherman in
Hawaii. It
has taken me through a variety of extremes from covering the
National Spelling Bee to Flying Faster
Than the Speed of Sound and landing on an aircraft carrier, or the gut-wrenching eternity of incoming
artillery exploding around me, to the lazy meandering of a slow boat ride down the Nile River in Egypt. It
has allowed me photograph world leaders,
National funerals as well as entertainment leaders, such as
Bruce Springsteen,  Elvis  and the Rolling Stones

I was involved with the early use of Digital cameras and transition from film to digital photography.

My friend, photographer
Larry Downing, said recently that we have had the best job in the world. In many
ways he is right, where else could you spend the morning photographing
Pandas  and in the afternoon
photograph the president of the United States and get paid for it. I hope you enjoy looking around my site,
and, who knows, here and there you might get a laugh or surprise.  Have fun. Turn up your sound, as
some pages have sound or interviews. This site seems to run better using
Internet Explorer and needs
Netscape 7 or later.  Pages may load slow on slower Internet providers due to large number of images.
